About Defiance College

Defiance College is an independent, co-educational liberal arts college affiliated with the United Church of Christ, located in Defiance, which is a city in northwestern Ohio state, USA, serving as the county seat of Defiance County, with a population estimated at a number of nearly 16 500 inhabitants, at the time of the 2000 census.

The college was established in 1850, and, recently, has gained national recognition for its programs of service and engagement. Through its 5 divisions - Arts and Humanities, Behavioral and Applied Social Science, Business, Allied Health, and Sport Management, Education, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics - Defiance offers its students majors, concentrations and pre-professional programs in a wide range of study areas, including several special programs.

Athletics

Defiance's athletic teams are known as the Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets, and they compete in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), at the NCAA Divsion III level. Their distinctive colors are purple and gold.
